2015 In-House Review on Research,
Development and Extension

The UEP Research and Extension Offices conducted its regular Agency Research, Development and Extension (RDE) In-House Review on July 14-15, 2015, with 66 research papers actually presented from which 4 were awarded Best Paper, and another 3 qualified for the Level 2 Cluster 3 In-house Review (please see box).
According to Dr. Pio P. Tuan, Director for Research, the RDE In-House review is an annual activity of the UEP Research and Extension Offices as part of their commitment to continuously produce quality researches. This seek to exact for the entire higher education system’s higher accountability of outcome and impact as research is one area that is being looked into in the accreditation of the University’s academic programs, for SUC leveling/ranking, for normative funding, in gauging excellence of scientific training, and for awarding titles such as “Center of Excellence” and “Center of Development”.
The activity started on July 14, 2015 at 9 AM with an opening program wherein the mechanics of the in-house review was specified by Prof. Angelito I. Llano, RDE In-House Review Special Project Coordinator. This was followed by the presentation of completed, on-going and new research/extension proposals divided into two fields: the Natural Sciences and the Social Sciences. The venues of the presentations were at the Moot Court of the College of Law and the Conference Room of the Office of the Student Affairs. On June 15, 2015, the presentations continued in the morning followed by the closing program in the afternoon with the distribution of awards and certificates of appreciation to all the participants and recognition for all the winners.
The Panel of Evaluators was divided into two groups. For the Natural Science: Chair, Dr. Rolando A. Delorino; Members, Dr. Helena T. Dela Rosa, Dr. Norman T. Diaz, Dr. Godofredo Z. Ramis, and Dr. Pio P. Tuan. For the Social Science: Chair, Dr. Estrellita C. Pinca; Members, Dr. Lydia E. Dela Rosa, Dr. Tito M. Cabili, Dr. Jaime Sanico, and Dr. Edwin R. Celestino.
The winners were rated by the panel of evaluators for each category. All of the chosen awardees and qualifiers will present their papers in the Level 2 Cluster 3 Inter-Agency RDE In-house Review in Catbalogan City on July 28-29, 2015.#
