UEP honors Pres Mar, CL hosts convocation
On Monday morning, the usual flag raising ceremony turned into a delightful and memorable honoring of a leader. The College of Law (CL) through Atty Marlonfritz Broto, CL dean, initiated the convocation ceremony on June 29, 2015 at the UEP gym in grateful recognition of the service rendered by the 5th UEP President—Atty Mar P. De Asis.
This was his last flag raising ceremony as UEP President, so the CL faculty and the Association of Law Students (ALAS) commended on Atty De Asis who brought major improvements and developments to the whole institution and to the community.
Various personalities delivered their testimonies in honor of the UEP president. Dean Broto said that it is not the number of facilities or buildings a person had made that is worth honoring but it is the number of people the person had touched. He added that Pres de Asis has inspired many individuals. Further, Atty Emily Sison-Acompañado gave her testimony on behalf of the CL faculty together with Dr. Rem Laodeño who expressed gratitude on behalf of the faculty union. Mr. James Bianes, talked on behalf of the non-teaching staff and employees. The program ended with a farewell message of Pres de Asis and yet it was never a goodbye. # (Karen D. Gajutos, UPMAO Staff)
