CNJSCO Prexy wins PCGE-NEDA Makabagong Rizal Search
Leo Kevin D. Mante, senior Bachelor of Science in Nursing student and President of the College of Nursing Junior and Senior Classes Organization (CNJSCO) was recognized as 2013 Makabagong Rizal: Pag-asa ng Bayan (MRPB) awardee in a fitting ceremony held on 24 November at Casa Blanca, Intramuros, Manila.
Mante was one of the 17 national winners of MRPB and the lone recipient from the Eastern Visayas. Prior to the awarding, he attended the 22-23 November Leadership Training in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Mante submitted his application-documents for the contest last 16 May 2013. A month after, he was notified as one of the model search finalists. With his coach and nominator, Mr. Brenfred N. Romero, Adviser of the University Student Council, he went to the Philippine Information Agency Central Visayas Regional Office in Cebu City on 30 July of the same year for the final oral interview. A week after, he received a letter of congratulations from the organizer informing him of his having been chosen as one of the MRPB national winners.
A biennial search which started in 2011, MRPB aims at gathering children and youth with exemplary performance and exposing them to activities that will harness their leadership skills and to further acquaint them with the life and works of the Philippine National Hero and icon of the Malay race, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. It is a brainchild of the Philippine Center for Gifted Education, Inc. (PCGE, Inc.) with support from the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines National Economic Development Authority (NEDA). #
