Twenty (20) Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology students from University of Eastern Philippines – Catarman Campus, Catarman, Northern Samar completed 168 hours internship at BFAR 8 – Guiuan Marine Fisheries Development Center.
Students were assigned in Abalone Hatchery, Freshwater Prawn Hatchery, Tilapia Hatchery, Sea cucumber Hatchery, Blue swimming crab/Mangrove crab Hatchery, Milkfish Hatchery, Giant clam Hatchery, Seaweed Laboratory, Seaweed Landbased Nursery and Phycology Laboratory. They were exposed on aquaculture activities such as broodstock management, larval rearing, natural food production ( microalgae and zooplankton), nursery rearing and harvesting of hatchery bred fry and juveniles that was distributed to established Marine Protected Areas and to private aquafarmers.
